About Celina Kay Porter

Celina Kay Porter was born on June 26th,1984 in Las Vegas New Mexico. Her family moved to Taos when she was eight years old.

Growing up surrounded by art, she developed a passion for Flamenco. While in flamenco, working on routines with the yards of skirt she developed an appreciation for fabric. She likes the way fabric takes on a life of its own or can be controlled depending on the way a person interacts with it.

She taught herself how to sew and started designing items for those around her. Celina won first place in a scholarship competition to attend The Art Institute of California- San Francisco . This allowed her to further develop her desire to master fabric.
In college she discovered she had a talent for communicating with computer software. She was commissioned by the school to become a note taker for students who struggled in various classes.

After college she started working in the fashion industry. At first she enjoyed it, but she soon grew tired of the repetition. She wanted to learn more about various avenues of art. This desire finally lead her back home to Taos New Mexico.

Along her journey in Taos she has found that she enjoys bookmaking, jewelry and teaching. Celina wishes to grow more in these areas and continues to search for more outlets in creativity.
